The Hydrology
Department consists of three subdivisions:
Hydrological
Forecasting Division
State Water Cadastre Division
Hydrography Group
The Hydrology Department ensures
methodical and operational management of the hydrological network that
includes 1 hydrological station and 47 hydrological posts on the rivers Prut
and Nistru, their tributaries and smaller rivers.
Main tasks:
delivery of hydrological data to the
public authorities
understanding of conditions generating
hydrological disasters
observation of the rivers hydrological
regime in the Republic of Moldova
publication of annual and multiannual
data on regime and surface water
publication of the State Water Cadastre
organization and carrying out of
hydrographic observations.
The technology of customer provision with data consists of four basic
elements:
data receipt
data collection
data processing
data delivery to customers
Data
receipt
Receipt of data on daily observations on water level, precipitation, water
and air temperature, water turbidity, seasonal observations of ice
formation, ice thickness, water discharge measurements.
Data collection
Monthly data from posts are transmitted to the hydrological station for
processing and further delivery to Chisinau-Apa Co. for operative processing
and hydrological forecasts issue.
Data processing
Data processing is initiated by the observer at the hydrological post and
continued by qualified specialist of the Hydrology Department. Outcomes are
edition of “Annual data on regime and surface water”, “State Water Cadastre
of the Republic of Moldova”, “Multiannual Characteristics Guideline”
Data delivery to customers
Products available are: hydrological state of rivers and watersheds (real
and historical data); forecasts of spring flood and hydrological disasters;
forecasts of watershed freezing and thawing, ice depth; hydrological
bulletin; forecasts of snow cover and snow depth.
