1844 – first instrumental meteorological observations
1878 – first hydrological observations
1944 – establishment of MetOffice in Chisinau and issue of the first weather forecast
1950 – issue of the first flood forecast for the rivers Nistru and Prut
1956 – establishment of the Hydrometeorological Observatory reorganized in the Hydrometeorological Centre in 1982
1964 – first observations of air and soil pollution, radiation background
1993 – reorganization of the Hydrometeorological Direction of the Republic of Moldova in “Hydrometeo” Service of the Republic of Moldova
1993 – accession of the Republic of Moldova to the Intergovernmental Council for Hydrometeorology of CIS
1994 – accession of the Republic of Moldova to the World Meteorological Organization
1998 – adoption of the Law on Hydrometeorological activity (nr.1536-XIII from February 25, 1998)
1999 – adoption of the Governmental Decision on use of hydrometeorological data by the economic agents (nr.935 from 11 October 1999)
2003 – adoption of the Governmental Decision on some aspects of hydrometeorological activity in the Republic of Moldova (nr.01 from 3 April 2003).
