The Centre structure includes:

  • The group for technical and software maintaining.

  • The group for development and maintenance of the Database

  •
  • National Hydrometeorological Data Fund

  •

The activity of the Centre is based on the implementation of new information technologies’ methods into different subdivisions of the service, software maintenance and development, data base maintenance, collection of meteorological information from the posts and stations, control, creation of archives, processing of yearbook tables, safe keeping of all kinds of hydrometeorological and environmental pollution information, as well as the maintaining of State Data Fund.

The centre was created in 1994 as a result of combining the programmers, electronists and mechanical information process divisions and the National Hydrometeorological Data Fund.

The specialists develop software for the automatization of the working places for the SHS experts – hydrologists, sinopticians, agrometeorologists, etc. For processing agrometeorological, actinometrical, hydrological and meteorological information, as well as for the information concerning the water, soil and air pollution, complex programmes are developed. Centre’s specialists participated at the Service’s web page creation of the design and software.

Monthly the State Hydrometeorological Service receives from all the stations and posts of the Republic coded information related to meteorological analysis in written form. Using DAVL, ACTIN, MIP, MISS PERSONA software, the specialists of the Centre enter the data in computers, process it and obtain the results in tables.

Another function of the Centre is to enter the data on the actinometrical analysis obtained at two stations, the data on the hourly investigations of the pressure in Chişinău and the information for the development of agrometeorological yearbook.

One of the main tasks of the Centre is to expand and maintain the local network, to repair and maintain the computers, support and update the SHS web page. All the electronic data are transferred on different data media, doubled and recorded in the Centre. The Hydrometeorological Data Fund keeps the multiannual data printed on paper.

The main tasks of National Hydrometeorological Data Fund are collecting, storing, systematizing and keeping the record of the investigation and research materials related to hydrometeorological regime on the territory of the Republic; recording the departmental hydrological stations and posts; elaborating the catalogues in accordance with the hydrometeorological data of the Republic of Moldova.

A guide for establishing the terms of information storage for archive workers as well as for the experts’ commissions is comprised in “The list of National Data Fund documents on the environmental state” RD52, 19-143-87, that was developed and approved in 1987, (republished in 1998).
