Meteorological Forecasting Centre
 
Meteorological Forecasting Centre provides local and central public authorities, economic agents and population with information about extreme and unfavourable weather phenomena. Well-qualified specialists continuously analyze and issue short range forecasts (up to 36 hours) and medium range forecasts (up to 144 hours). Meteorological information is delivered to users through modern communication means, including Internet and mass media. Central and local public bodies, economic agents receive Meteorological Bulletin.

  3. Specialized forecasts
  4. Daily bulletin that includes:
    1. inside weather characteristic
    2. 24 h weather forecasts for Chisinau and country
    3. 24-72 h weather forecasts for the country

Meteorological network


Observations are performed every 2h, 5h, 8h, 11h, 14h, 17h, 20h and 23h by the following meteorological elements:

  • atmosphere pressure (at sea level and station level)
  • air temperature (minimum an maximum temperature)
  • air moisture (partial pressure, relative moisture, saturation deficit)
  • wind (direction, velocity)
  • cloudiness (shape and height)
  • precipitation
  • meteorological visibility range
  • surface soil temperature (maximum and minimum)
  • soil temperature on the areas without vegetation cover (at a depth of 5,10,15, and 20cm)
  • soil temperature on the area with vegetation cover (at a depth of 0.20m, 0.40m, 0.80m, 1.60m, 2.40m, and 3.20m)
  • snow cover (depth, density, water stock)
  • atmosphere phenomena.

    At a number of stations the recorders register air temperature and air moisture (3 stations), precipitation intensity (15 stations), sunshine duration (8 stations). The observation of the extreme values of air temperature, precipitation, snow cover and atmosphere phenomena are carried out at 18.00 and 20.00 (winter period).
